PURPOSE: To make it possible to print excellently in quality without considering correcting operation at a first print mode for consecutive printing and to perform the correcting operation assuredly at a second print mode where the correcting operation can be performed.

CONSTITUTION: A printing energy to be given to a heating element at a first print mode is made to be larger than a printing energy to be given to the heating element at a second print mode. At the first print mode, printing with excellent quality is performed by a large printing energy. Also, at the second print mode, correcting operation is performed assuredly by a small printing energy.
