The printer controller includes an interpreter part which converts code information received via an external communication part to raster data, first and second connecting terminals to either of which the main controlling part is connected via a wiring cable, a first communication controlling part which carries out communication with the main controlling part via the first connecting terminal by a first data transmission form and outputs the raster data generated by the interpreter part to the main controlling part, a second communication controlling part which carries out communication with the main controlling part via the second connecting terminal by a second data transmission form and outputs the raster data generated by the interpreter part to the main controlling part, and an IF selecting part which selects either of the first communication controlling part and the second communication controlling part on the basis of a connection request from the main controlling part and outputs the raster data from the interpreter part.
