PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of increasing the number of printing faces printable with a roll of an ink ribbon set in the printer.SOLUTION: A printer comprises a printing part for printing by pushing an ink ribbon R, prepared from repeated coating of a film substrate with a set rs of a special transfer layer (SP layer) and non-special transfer layers (Y layer, M layer, C layer, OC layer), against a printing face of a printing medium to transfer at least the non-special transfer layers to the ink ribbon R, where the non-special transfer layer unit coating length L1 that is the coating length for each kind unit of the non-special transfer layers along the longitudinal direction of the film substrate by a set rs factor is set to a length which enables whole surface printing for each of a plurality of printing faces, and the special transfer layer unit coating length L2 that is the coating length for each kind unit of the special transfer layers along the longitudinal direction of the film substrate in a set rs is set shorter than the non-special transfer layer unit coating length L1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
