To solve the problem that the threshold value determined in advance is unsuitable depending upon the kind of paper although the execution of printing is suspended across the board when the size of skew is beyond the fixed threshold in a printer detecting paper skew when providing the paper and having the function of suspending the execution of the printing.
A printing command formation section 22 in a host 2 controls and encodes the data of value about the range of inclination permissible and peculiar to the paper in response to the kind of the paper specified by a printing demand issue section 21, adding it to the printing command and sending it to the printer. The printer that receives it measures the value of skew with a sensor 12. Comparing the measured thickness with the value of permissible zone received as data with a comparison portion 37, printing is suspended to make a host display portion 24 display a warning only when the measured value is beyond the value displayed in the received data.
