To provide a printer and a printing controlling method, which have an effect on reduction of a spooling capacity, since which format of PDL data and raster data is employed for spooling can be determined by page, and are appropriately improved in reusability of a print job, and a printing period of time.
Received print job data are divided into pages. On the basis of a content of an object included in each print job data, it is determined whether the page is to be spooled, as it is PDL data, or after it is translated into raster data, and the print job data is spooled according to the determination. When accepting instructions of reprinting, the print job data held as it is the PDL data, outputs, for printing, the raster data created by changing the PDL data as needed and rendering the PDL data, and the raster data read out from the spool in order of page.
