The printer has a printing head, a drive signal generating part, and a controller. The printing head delivers the ink when a unit signal for dot formation is applied to a driving element. The drive signal generating part repeatedly generates for every predetermined period of time both a first drive signal (COM_A) which includes the unit signal and a second drive signal (COM_B) which includes the unit signal. Moreover, the drive signal generating part composes the predetermined period of time of three or more odd-number sections, and generates a unit signal for other dot formation other than the unit signal used for formation of maximum dots in the central section. The controller selects for every section necessary parts of the first drive signal and the second drive signal on the basis of information that shows a dot size, and applies to the driving element.
