To provide a printer allowing an appropriate product to be manufactured in a structure for performing printing to at least either of an adhesive sheet and a release sheet constituting a master roll by an intermittent printing method, and to provide a printing method.

The printer 1 includes: a first separation/temporary reattachment means 3 to separate a release sheet RL from an adhesive sheet S in forward feed of a master roll R and temporarily reattach the adhesive sheet S to the release sheet RL in reverse feed thereof; a detouring means 4 to detour the release sheet RL; a print means 5 to perform intermittent printing to an adhesive layer AD of the adhesive sheet S; and a second separation/temporary reattachment means 6 to temporarily reattach the adhesive sheet S to the release sheet RL in the forward feed and separate the adhesive sheet S and the release sheet RL from each other in the reverse feed. In the printer, the detouring means 4 includes: a first warpage prevention means 43 to prevent warpage in the width direction of the release sheet RL in the vicinity of the second separation/temporary reattachment means 6; and a second warpage prevention means 44 to prevent warpage in the width direction of the release sheet RL in the vicinity of the first separation/temporary reattachment means 3.
