A print head section H of a printer for a solid material is equipped with an ink ejecting section 2 for ejecting ink to the object to be printed of the solid material and a coating agent ejecting section 3 for ejecting a coating agent. Under controlling by a control section, the ink ejecting section 2 and the coating agent ejecting section 3 are relatively moved with respect to the object by means scanning section 1 to form a desired image on the surface of the object. An undercoating agent to be coated on the surface of the printing medium prior to forming of an image and a topcoating agent to be coated on the surface of the printing medium after the forming of the image are ejected from the coating agent ejecting section 3.
