After finishing heading of an ink sheet 9 and a print sheet 10, a thermal head 1 is pressed against a platen roller 7 through the ink sheet 9 and the print sheet 10. Subsequently, a capstan roller 15 is rotated and printing is performed through the thermal head 1. The print sheet 10 is pressed by a specified amount by the outer circumferential part of a separation guide roller 28 through the ink sheet 9 and substantially tight state is kept between the ink sheet 9 and the print sheet 10 from the position of the thermal head 1 to the position of the separation guide roller 28. Thereafter, the ink sheet 9 is separated from the print sheet 10 with the pressing part of the separation guide roller 28 as a fulcrum and wound around a take-up spool 16 while being pressed upward by the ink sheet guide 12.
