To easily insert an ink ribbon into a gap between a printing part and a ribbon guide.
This printer is equipped with a print head 1, a platen, and an ink ribbon cassette. The print head 1 conducts printing while reciprocating in a printing direction. The printing part 11 is provided on the platen-side surface of the print head 1, and the ribbon guide 3, which is elongated in the printing direction by providing a microgap with respect to the printing part 11, is provided. The ink ribbon, which pulled out from the ribbon cassette, passes through the gap between the printing part 11 and the ribbon guide 3 so as to be transferred in a tensioned state in one direction. A first inclined plane 12a for guiding the ink ribbon toward the gap between the printing part 11 and the ribbon guide 3 is formed on the print head 1, and a protrusion 31, which protrudes toward the passage side of the ink ribbon, is provided at the end, in the transfer direction of the ink ribbon, of the ribbon guide 3. A surface, on the side of the printing part 11, of the protrusion 31 is formed as a second inclined plane 31a which gets gradually closer to the ink ribbon from a base part of the ribbon guide 3 to the tip of the protrusion 31.
