To provide a printer capable of reducing a printer width without disturbing replacement work for an ink ribbon and a roll by a guide roller.
This printer includes an upper casing 2 openable and closable freely, a printing unit 10 provided with a printing head for printing information onto a recording medium, using the ink ribbon, printing unit support arms 3 supported turnably around the vicinity of its one end as the turning center, and for clamping the printing unit 10 to be held, and a roll support device 4 for supporting the roll 20, and supplies the recording medium from the roll 20 to the printing unit 10. The guide roller 5 for guiding a feed of the recording medium from the roll 20 is installed supportively by a guide roller support member 6 in an inner face side of the upper casing 2, in the printer, and the guide roller support member 6 is inserted between the printing unit 10 and the roll 20 from a space between the paired printing unit support arm 3, by closing the upper casing 2, to arrange the guide roller 5 in a prescribed position.
