In the printer, the gripper 20 configured to grip the leading end of the conveyed printing paper is disposed in a recessed part 10K formed in a body 10A and the gripper 20 is configured to be rotatable around a rotary shaft X1 to freely change its position between the protruded position where it is protruded in a radially outward direction from an outer peripheral surface of the body 10A and the retracting position where it is retracted from the outer peripheral surface of the body 10A in a radially inward direction. The rotary shaft X1 is arranged on a connection part J between a sidewall 10a on the upstream side in the printing paper conveying direction in sidewalls constituting the recessed part 10K and the outer peripheral surface of the body 10A.
