Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect fullness of sheets on a sheet discharge tray without requiring a physical mechanism such as a fullness detection sensor.SOLUTION: A sheet discharge device includes: discharge means which discharges sheets onto a discharge tray; count means which counts the total discharge number every time the sheets are discharged by the discharge means; reset means which resets the total discharge number counted by the count means when the period from discharge of one sheet by the discharge means to discharge of the next sheet exceeds the previously-stored prescribed discharge interval period value; and a display unit which displays the information to the effect that the sheets are recovered from the sheet discharge tray when the total discharge number counted by the count means exceeds the previously-stored prescribed discharge number threshold without resetting by the reset means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
