Abstract:
To provide a printer, including a detector that is capable of detecting the width of a printing medium, which can improve working property when providing a roll between a pair of supporting members that support a roll with the printing medium wound thereon in a detachable manner.SOLUTION: The printer includes: a first support part 3; a second support part 4; an allowing mechanism 40; and a detector 9. The second support part 4 is provided movably to the first support part 3 in the approaching and separating direction and can support a roll between it and the first support part 3. The allowing mechanism 40 allows the movement of the second support body 4 and the movement of a mover 8 to the first support part 3 in the first range where the clearance between the mover 8, which is capable of moving in the approaching and separating direction, and the support parts 3, 4, is a predetermined distance or less, and allows the movement of the second support part 4 to the first support body 3 and controls the movement of the mover 8 in the second range where the clearance is more than the predetermined distance. The detector 9 supports the mover 8 movably in the approaching and separating direction and detects the position of the mover 8 in the approaching and separating direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
