Abstract:
To provide a printer capable of correctly detecting a position of a tip of a sheet in a short time without being affected by sensitivity of an optical sensor.SOLUTION: A printer includes: a first setting unit 62 for setting an AD value as a maximum value when the AD value by an optical sensor 50 exceeds a threshold value 61a and setting a minimum value; a second setting unit 63 for setting the AD value as a minimum value when the AD value does not exceed the threshold value 61a and setting the maximum value; a first updating unit 66 for updating the minimum value while a carrying unit conveys a recording medium (sheet S) in a first direction (a pullback direction D2) when the first setting unit sets the maximum value and the minimum value; a second updating unit 67 for updating the maximum value while the carrying unit conveys the recording medium in the second direction (feeding direction D1) when the second setting unit sets the maximum value and the minimum value; a threshold updating unit 68 for updating the threshold on the basis of the set maximum value and the updated minimum value or the set minimum value and the updated maximum value; and a tip detecting unit 69 for detecting a position of a tip of the recording medium on the basis of the updated threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
