Abstract:
To provide a printer capable of accurately detecting a front edge of a sheet.SOLUTION: There is provided a printer, including: a sheet feeding unit 2; a registration unit 3 for aligning a front edge of a sheet of paper fed and conveyed from the sheet feeding unit 2 in a conveying direction of a sheet-like printed material; a main unit that prints on the sheets aligned by the registration unit 3; a paper discharge unit that discharges the sheet printed by the main unit; and a controller, the registration unit 3 including a sensor 8 for detecting the sheet conveyed to the registration unit 3, the sensor 8 including a light source that irradiates the sheet with light from below; and imaging means for imaging from below an area included in at least an irradiation area of the sheet that is irradiated with the light source, and the controller being configured to detect a front edge of the sheet based on a brightness of the captured image captured by the imaging means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
