PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the ink amount applied to a plate cylinder on a printing section by receiving an electronic signal of a monochromatic or color-separated image to be printed and providing the ink on the plate cylinder for accepting the ink and transferring the image onto a blanket cylinder.
SOLUTION: An ink is transferred onto the surface of each of plate cylinders 24d by rollers 22, and also transferred to each of blanket cylinder 26, the surface of which is brought into contact with the surface of the plate cylinder, and then transferred to each of image printing cylinder 28d, the surface of which is brought into contact with the surface of the blanket cylinder. The angle position of the each plate cylinder 24d is monitored by a printing station, and the ink control for an ink jet assembly is carried out. Plate blanks are mounted on respective plate cylinders used for printing documents, and a digital storage medium displaying the color separation of an original text to be copied is loaded in a computer 40. The ink amount for the plate cylinders is adjusted successively by electronically controlling ink jet instruments of respective printing sections. Thus the color volume is read and errors are corrected and the ink volume can be adjusted effectively.
