Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a mechanism which can smoothly conduct a ribbon replacing operation and set a ribbon to a correct position in a ribbon mask opening mechanism for a printer.
CONSTITUTION: A printer has a carriage 38, a print head 14 and a ribbon for printing, and comprises a ribbon mask 42 rockably provided between a closed state and an open state at an axis parallel to a ribbon conveying direction as a center, means for energizing the mask 42 in a closing direction, and a mechanism for opening the mask 42 against the energizing force.
