PURPOSE: To confirm the remaining capacity of the form memory for registering form independently and simply by a printer without reference to a host computer.
CONSTITUTION: In a form memory 24, data on the form used at the printing with a printer 12 is registered. Whenever a constant period timer 44 outputs a calculation pointing signal 45, a remaining capacity calculating part 43 respectively calculates the number of bytes in the registered data region occupied in the form memory 24 and in the whole region so as to calculate the number of the bytes in the remaining capacity or the percentage of the remaining capacity to the whole capacity for sending it as the data 39 for displaying the calculated result of the remaining capacity to a displaying controlling part 37, resulting in displaying the remaining capacity on a display 27.
