PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform top and bottom adjustment with a high regist accuracy by minimizing backlash while making a driving system of a plate cylinder and an impression cylinder in direct gear connection.
SOLUTION: This printing apparatus comprises a plate cylinder 1, an impression cylinder 7 adapted to grasp a tip end of a sheet P to press the same against the plate cylinder 1, a plate cylinder gear 6 provided on the plate cylinder 1, and an impression cylinder gear 11 provided on the impression cylinder 7 to engage with the plate cylinder gear 6 and having the same number of teeth as those of the plate cylinder gear 6. Engagement of the plate cylinder gear 6 and the impression cylinder gear 11 with each other renders the plate cylinder 1 and the impression cylinder 7 in a rotary drive torque transmitting relationship. Either of the impression cylinder 7 and the plate cylinder 1 can rotate selectively relative to either of the plate cylinder gear 6 and the impression cylinder gear 11, and the apparatus further comprises a phase difference generating mechanism 30 for changing a positional relationship of either of the impression cylinder 7 and the plate cylinder 1 in a direction of rotation relative to either of the plate cylinder gear 6 and the impression cylinder gear 11, and a drive mechanism provided on a body side of the screen printing apparatus 70 for selectively transmitting a drive power to the phase difference generating mechanism 30.
