To solve such a problem that the amount of an operation manipulated by a user increases because the operation for changing a paper feeding part is required when paper of designated size is not stored in the paper feeding part.
The printing apparatus provided with a plurality of paper feeding cassettes includes a memory 218 which stores a size of paper contained in each of the plurality of paper feeding cassettes. A method of controlling the printing apparatus comprises: a step (S12) of judging whether a paper size of the paper feeding cassette designated by a printing job which is stored on the memory 218 accords with the paper size designated by the printing job when receiving the printing job in which the paper feeding cassette and the paper size are designated; and a step (S14) of restricting the execution of the printing job when judging that the paper size of the feeding cassette designated by the printing job which is stored on the memory 218 does not accord with the paper size designated by the printing job. Further, the method of controlling the printing apparatus comprises: a step (S19) of specifying the paper feeding cassette when executing the printing job as the operation that the paper is set onto the paper feeding part is detected while the execution of the printing job is restricted; and a step (S21) of feeding the paper stored in the specified paper feeding cassette and executing the printing job.
