To prevent printing paper from being rolled up, to make an angle of separation of the printing paper invariable and thereby to eliminate uneven density, in a printing apparatus having paper carrying equipment which carries the printing paper for transfer of an image borne on an image bearing body.
A nipping member 38 nipping the fore end part of the printing paper P is fixed to a chain 36. While the printing paper P is carried by the chain 36, the ink image on a transfer drum 54 as the image bearing body is transferred onto the paper P. A roller 44 for holding down the paper which helps the printing paper P having the transferred image to be separated from the transfer drum 54 is provided in the vicinity of a portion where the image is transferred, on the downstream side in the direction of carriage of the paper.
