PURPOSE: To enable a card to be, at high speed, accurately carried to a printing position of the card, by establishing switching sensor information for judging of a card carrying direction and drive switch timing from a dc motor to a stepping motor based on printing positional information read from a magnetic recording part.
CONSTITUTION: In a card reader writer with a printer 100, a magnetic card 1 is inserted through a slot 2, and the balance information is printed out on a utilization column 1B of a surface. Carrying of the card 1 in printing is performed with a stepping motor 22. Then, a line position to be printed is classified into four kinds of 1W5 line, 6 or 7 line, 8W11 line, and 12W18 line, and a sensor for detection of switch timing from carrying of a dc motor 20 to carrying of the stepping motor 22 is switched. Further, a sensor for detection of timing for setting a printing pulse of carrying to a printing position is switched, and so controlled that the card can be carried as quickly as possible to the printing line position of the card 1. Carrying to the printing position becomes quick thereby, and printing can be performed at high speed.
