To control a feed distance to a new paragraph to which a medium sheet is moved.
The average line feed error of a printing engine provided with a printing control means 34, a driving motor 56, an encoder 60, a driving shaft 52 and the like is determined and corrected. A feed roller 46 for moving forward a medium sheet along a medium line is rotated by the driving shaft 52. Signals controlling the driving motor 56 are issued to the driving motor 56 by the printing control means 34. Also the driving shaft 52 is rotated by the driving motor 56. The feed roller 46 is connected with the driving shaft 52. The position of the driving shaft 52 is sensed by the encoder 60. The position is fed back by the printing control, means 34 and formed into the closed loop control. The signals to the driving motor 56 are controlled by the printing control means 34 to control the movement of the driving shaft 52.
