To provide a printing device having a simplified structure and high reliability which sorts work into each printing job without a complicated mechanism in the case that printed sheet is discharged to a sheet discharging stucker.
A cassette selection table 23 corresponds sheet cassettes 2 to 5 to sizes and directions of sheets housed respectively in the sheet cassettes 2 to 5. In the case that the size specified by a host device is different from the size of the sheet housed in the cassette which is selected last time, the cassette housing the sheet of the size specified by the host device is selected with reference to the cassette selection table 23 by a controlling part 16. In the case that the size specified by the host device is the same as that of the sheet housed in the cassette which is selected last time, the cassette housing the sheet of the size specified by the host device directed differently from the last case is selected with the reference to the cassette selection table 23 by the controlling part 16.
