To provide a printing device which is not necessary to memorize each residual quantity number of sheets or activity number of sheets of ribbon cassettes and which can attain the miniaturization of a memory space and reduce a manufacturing cost.
A CPU 111 overprints each color primary color ink Y, M, and C, transparent overcoat ink OP, performs color printing by one sheet, then detects a mark 81 for detecting a printing end position through a reflection type photosensor 36, then rewinds an ink ribbon 45 in a predetermined length, cues the black ink 80, and pressure welds the thermal head 15 to a platen roller 37 (S26-S28). And, the CPU 111 reads the number of sheets algebra V showing the number of the sheets which can color-print the ink ribbon 45 is read from RAM 114, subtracts "1", and again stores it. Then, after a bar code 80A which expresses this number of sheets algebra V with the width direction center section of the black ink 80 by a binary number is printed, the sheet 10 is ejected (S29-S32).
