To provide a printing device capable of preventing the cut position of roll paper from being inappropriate without wastefully using any roll paper even when corner folding occurs at the tip of the roll paper.
A printing device 1 prints a marking image predetermined by a printing part 4 on the printing surface of roller paper 30 conveyed along a sheet conveying path 32 to a discharge port 33 by a conveying part 3, and determines a cut position according to the printing position of the marking image read by an image reading part 6. The printing device 1 performs tip processing in which a cutting part 5 aligns the tip of the roll paper 30 at the determined cut position. In the tip processing, when the image reading part 6 is unable to read the printing position of the marking image, the printing device 1 reverses the conveying direction of the roll paper 30 by the conveying part 3, and rewinds the tip of the roll paper 30 to a housing part 31 side to execute tip processing again.
