PURPOSE: To improve the convenience for an operator by determining the paper discharging direction according to the length of the paper sheet.

CONSTITUTION: A printing device is provided with an LF motor speed storing part 12 to count the length of a paper sheet based on the feeding amount of the printing paper, and a printing paper table length storing part 13, and the CPU 2 processes the comparison and judgement. This arrangement allows the automatic judgement of the length of the printing paper and the length of the printing paper table on the paper-feeding side, and also allows the determination of the discharging direction of the printing paper, improving the convenience for the operator, and preventing the printed paper from being erroneously discharged forward and dropped from the device.
