To shorten time by reusing a printing medium, dispensing with removal operation of the printing medium reusable by an operator and saving labor.
A printer comprises: a printing medium conveying path for conveying the printing medium; printing medium detection parts arranged to face the printing medium conveying path and for detecting the edge of the printing medium conveying the printing medium conveying path; an error detection part for detecting the existence of a printing medium conveying error occurred in the printing medium conveying path; and a reuse detection part for detecting whether the printing medium reusable on the printing medium conveying path exists or not after detecting the printing medium conveying error. When the reuse detection part detects the existence of the reusable printing medium and the error detection part detects the release of the printing medium conveying error, the reusable printing medium is reversely conveyed up to the printing medium detection part arranged in more upstream than the edge of the reusable printing medium in a direction of printing medium conveyance.
