To attain an appropriate printing process according to a use and a purpose while enlargement of an apparatus is suppressed at carrying out the printing process of forming two images on a print medium in an overlapping manner.
A printing apparatus includes a control section which forms an image on the print medium by repeating an image forming operation in which a plurality of nozzle arrays are made to discharge an ink while the plurality of nozzle arrays are moved by a moving mechanism, and a transport operation in which the print medium is transported by a transport mechanism. The control section forms a first image by using a nozzle group for the first image which is comprised of N (N is an integer not smaller than 3) nozzles included in a first nozzle array among the plurality of nozzle arrays. The control section forms a second image which overlaps with the first image on the print medium by using a nozzle group for the second image which is comprised of M (M is an integer not smaller than 2 and smaller than N) nozzles different from those of the nozzle group for the first image in position in a first direction among nozzles included in a second nozzle array in the plurality of nozzle arrays.
