PURPOSE: To facilitate the adjustment of a clearance between a ribbon mask and a printing section at low cost by combining a guide plate and a platen into one member with a convex section provided on the printing section of the guide plate alone.

CONSTITUTION: A cut form 1 being carried in the direction of the arrow A with a conveying roller 5 is conveyed along a guide plate 2 into a convex section 3, namely, the printing position. Then, the cut form 1 is printed on the convex section 3 with a print head 4. Here, the existence of the convex section 3 on the guide plate 2 enables the regulation of a clearance 7 between a ribbon mask 6 and the guide plate 2 thereby facilitating the setting of the clearance between the ribbon mask 6 and the convex section 3 at a specified value.
