To provide a printing method which can reproduce the color of an original image by ultraviolet light-exciting using luminescence ink without requiring special modification of a printer using ink of cyan, magenta and yellow colors to conduct subtractive color mixing, and to provide an image data-forming method and a printed matter using these methods.

The printing method comprises a hue data-changing step of changing hue data of each pixel for constituting the image data into hue data for printing with the luminescence ink to the image data of each pixel to be printed, a lightness data changing step of changing lightness data of each pixel for inverting the lightness data of each pixel for constituting the image data to change to the lightness data for the luminescence ink. The printing method can reproduce the color of the original image by the ultraviolet light-exciting using the luminescence ink.
