PURPOSE: To print a high grade character/image even on a thick receiving medium inferior in surface smoothness at a high speed, by arranging a heat energy applying means and a magnetic force applying means on the same side with respect to the receiving medium and transferring ink to the receiving medium.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic head 11 is unified with an auxiliary magnetic pole 11' and further unified with a thermal head 12. The thermal head 12 applying heat to a magnetic ink medium 15 is arranged on the same side as the magnetic head 11 and, when a current flows to the coil wound around the magnetic head 11, magnetic force is generated in the magnetic head 11 and a part of the magnetic ink layer 16 melted by the thermal head 12 is transferred to a receiving medium 13. The auxiliary magnetic pole 11' merely stabilizes the direction of the magnetic force of the magnetic head 11 and helps the adhesion of the magnetic ink layer 16 melted by the thermal head 12 to the receiving medium 13 at the predetermined position. The thermal head 12 is arranged on the same side of the magnetic head 11 with respect to the receiving medium 13 and both heads can be integrated.
