PURPOSE: To permit simplification of construction and to make the quantity of a ribbon to be fed reliably uniform by connecting the motor shaft of a stepping motor, the shaft of a ribbon feeder roller and the shaft of a reel for winding the ribbon by a rotation transmission device.

CONSTITUTION: When a printing is done, a stepping motor 34 is actuated and according to the pulse numbers the shaft 34a of the motor turns as much as predetermined angle and a power is transmitted to a rubber roll through pulleys 42, 46 and a shaft 32a via a belt 45; through pulleys 47, 48 and a reel shaft 30a via belt 49. Thus, a ribbon is being fed and at the same time it is wound by a ribbon winding reel. When it is necessary to suspend ribbon feeding, for example, in case of changing type to a larger one, a switch is pushed to send a certain pulse to the stepping motor 34 and the rubber roll is turned in a above stated manner, winding the ribbon corresponding to the size of the type to be used. Thus, the transmission mechanism may be constituted with belts and pulleys alone, resulting in simplification of the construction and a reliably uniform quantity of ribbon feeding.
