This printing system is comprised of: a display device having a data broadcast wave receiving function, a data broadcast wave decoding function, a moving image data decoding function, a display function, and a first digital interface and a second digital interface for exchanging information with an external device; an external controller capable of exchanging information with the display device via the first digital interface; and a printer capable of exchanging information with the display device via the second digital interface, wherein the external controller can indicate that the display device is in a printable state by an explicit means by receiving information transmitted by a communication means when the display device is in the printable state.
