To clearly indicate a portion of a printed matter determined to be defective as a result of inspection, while maintaining productivity of a printing system as much as possible.

The printing system includes: a printing apparatus that generates a printed matter by printing an image according to image data; an inspection apparatus that reads the image printed on the printed matter and inspects the read image; and an inserter that inserts an insertion paper sheet between the printed matters. The inspection apparatus is disposed between the inspection apparatus and the inserter, so that an insert can be inserted between the printed matters, the insert indicating a defective portion determined to be abnormal by the inspection apparatus that inspects the printed matter with the image printed thereon by the printing apparatus.
