PURPOSE: To enable to print on a large size paper without enlarging the size of a printer, by varying the driving timing of a printing head in accordance with the velocity of a printing head when manually scanning on a paper a printing part provided with the printing head or the like.

CONSTITUTION: When the printing part 20 provided with the printing head comprising a printing head heating part 26 or the like is manually moved in the manner of scanning on the paper, the velocity of the printing part 20 is detected by a velocity-detecting controlling circuit 38 of an IC30 through detecting roller brushes 35A, 35B. A printing head controlling driver 39 is controlled by a micro- computer 36, and the driving timing of the head is varied in accordance with the velocity of the printing part 20. Accordingly, a large size mechanism for horizontally moving the printing head, a line feeding mechanism for the paper and the like are unnecessitated, and it is enabled to print on a large size paper without enlarging the size of the printer.
