Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for storing probiotics and delivering them to specific sites in a gastrointestinal tract.SOLUTION: This invention relates to: an encapsulated probiotic in which one or more probiotic microorganisms are dispersed in an aqueous suspension of a protein and a carbohydrate, in an oil-in-water emulsion of a film-forming protein and a carbohydrate and a fat, or in an oil which is dispersed in a film-forming protein and a carbohydrate; and a probiotic powder consisting of a probiotic bacteria selected from bifidobacteria, lactobacilli, saccharomyces, lactococcus, streptococci and propionibacteria encapsulated in a film-forming mixture of casein or whey protein and an oligosaccharide.SELECTED DRAWING: None
