Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make it possible to well and uniformly finish leather by spraying and applying a finishing liquid to the leather in a solvent atmosphere having a specific residual oxygen content.
CONSTITUTION: A booth is made inert with nitrogen prior to use and is then hermetically closed. Oxygen in the air is replaced by introduction of, for example, nitrogen up to <15% by volume, more preferably <10%. The interior of the spray booth is thereafter satd. with the solvent. The solvent is sprayed through a spray gun 6 mounted at the booth wall until the solvent in the spray booth attains 10 to 100% of the saturation concn. As a result, the finishing can be improved.
