Title:
PROCESS OF ATTACHMENT OF SECOND SURFACE MIRRORS TO SPACECRAFT SURFACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0365499
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform a process for the attachment of second surface mirrors to a spacecraft surface in an expeditious and highly accurate manner by attaching these second surface mirrors to a spacecraft surface in the form of a tile-like sheet mirror in batches, with each batch being in the form of a plurality of said mirrors in closely adjacent side-by-side, edge-to-edge and end-to-end array temporarily adhered to one side of a removable flexible transfer sheet.

CONSTITUTION: Two areas 7 and 6 of a spacecraft surface are cleansed, and these cleansed surface areas 7 and 6 are covered with an electrothermal conductive bonding agent 13. Next, a plurality of second surface mirrors 1 are temporarily adhered to one side of a removable flexible transfer sheet 2 in closely adjacent side-by-side, edge- to-edge and end-to-end array in the form of a tile-like sheet mirror of mirror coated material, whereby this array is formed on the one side of this sheet 2, and the array of these mirrors 1 is situated at the side distance from the bond agent covered surface, making a vacuum act on the transfer sheet 2, and it is maintained in sufficient time for hardening the bonding agent. Thus the mirrors 1 are attached to the spacecraft surface. Subsequently, the vacuum and the transfer sheet 2 are removed from the mirror mounting surface.
