Abstract:

PURPOSE: Chloroformates are prepared in high yield by reacting continuously an alcohol with phosgene in gas phase aging the reaction mixture at a temperature of at lest 5°C lower than the reaction temperature and removing the hydrogen chloride gas formed as a by-product.
