Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a fluoro (co)polymer having a high maximum working temperature and excellent machinability and processability at low temperature and low pressure without environmental pollution by (co)polymerizing a fluorinated olefin with a non-fluorinated olefin under irradiation with a radiation in a specified region in an aqueous emulsion.

CONSTITUTION: The objective fluoro (co)polymer is obtained by (co)polymerizing (A) a fluorinated olefin such as a 2-8C (hydrogen-containing) perfluoroolefin or a compound of the formula: CF2=CFOX (wherein X is a 1-6C perfluoroalkyl or the like) in combination with, optionally, (B) a non-fluorinated olefin, under the influence of an ultraviolet to visible radiation in the presence of (C) a radical photoinitiator such as an alkali metal persulfate, a dialkyl peroxide, or an acyl peroxide in an aqueous emulsion.
