Abstract:
To provide a process of leaching gold efficiently at low cost, from a mixture containing sulfur and gold, typically from a floatation recovered material containing sulfur and gold being an intermediate product in wet smelting, without using cyanogen.
The process of leaching gold from the mixture containing elemental sulfur and gold includes steps of: bringing the mixture into contact with aqueous solution of hydroxide of one or more metals selected from a group consisting of alkali metals and alkaline earth metals; producing thiosulfate of a corresponding metal by a reaction of the hydroxide and elemental sulfur; and leaching gold with the produced thiosulfate.
