Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double row conical roller bearing of which manufacturing cost is restricted.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a process of manufacture of a bearing ring of a double row conical roller bearing comprising the steps for preparing a compact; forming a heating region; cooling it; and removing it. At the step for preparing the compact, it is constituted of steel and the compact formed with an annular groove 19 that is to become a rolling surface 11 of the bearing ring at its bottom surface is prepared. At the step for forming the heating region, the heating region including the bottom surface of the groove 19 and heated to a temperature of a point Aor more is formed by rotating relatively along a peripheral direction of the groove an induction heating coil arranged to face against a part of the groove to heat the compact in induction along a peripheral direction of the groove. At the cooling step, the entire heating region is simultaneously cooled to a temperature of a point Mor less. There is further provided a step for holding the compact in a state in which its heating is stopped before the cooling step after the step for forming the heating region.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
