PURPOSE: To improve lithographic printing plates thereby preventing or reducing effectively the degradation of oxide coatings of the face and the back of an aluminum base materiel and the contamination of printing forms and a develop ment apparatus resulted therefrom.

CONSTITUTION: This is a production process for lithographic printing plates where grained, anodized and hydrophilized lithographic printing plates which have radiation-sensitive coatings are exposed and are developed in an aqueous alkaline solution, are subjected, after hydrophilization, to a treatment with a salt solution containing divalent or polyvalent cations in a concentration of not less than 0.02 mol/l.
