PURPOSE: To obtain a synthesis-, reducing- or fuel gas cleaned with low energy consumption by partially oxidizing a hydrocarbon to give a hot raw gas, quenching the gas with water, and then subjecting it to processings comprising a functional combination of operations such as scrubbing, flashing, deaeration and filtration.
CONSTITUTION: (1) An aqueous slurry of a liquid hydrocarbon or solid carbonaceous fuel is partially oxidized in a reactor 1 to give a hot raw gas. (2) The hot raw gas is quenched in a quench chamber 11 with a quenching water supplied from a line 9 below the reactor. (3) The cooled raw gas stream 12 is scrubbed in a scrubbing zone (provided with a Ventuli scrubber 19 and a cleaning container 20) with deaerated grey water (from the bottom of a deaerator 32). (4) The black quench water from the bottom of the quench chamber 11 and the black scrubbing water from the scrubbing zone are flashed in a flashing zone (provided with flash drums 22, 34, and 66). (5) The flash vapors are condensed and introduced into the deaerator 32 to form a deaerated grey water. (6) The concentrated black water is passed through a clarifier 45 and then processed through a filter 49.
