PURPOSE: To minimize the amount of discharged NOx due to combustion by forming a conical column of liquid fuel in the interior of a burner, which column widens in the direction of flow, surrounding the column with a rotating stream of combustion air flowing tangentially into the burner, and igniting it at the outlet of the burner to form a backflow zone in the region of the burner outlet for stabilizing flame.
CONSTITUTION: A burner is constituted by two hollow part-cone bodies mutually offset and superposed on one another, the central axes 1b and 2b being mutually offset to form two tangential air inlet slots 19 and 20, through which air 15 for combustion flows into a conical cavity 14. A liquid fuel 12 flowing in a nozzle 3 is injected into the conical cavity 14 to generate a conical spray as uniformly as possible, so that the conical fluid fuel profile 5 is surrounded by a rotating stream 15 of combustion air which flows tangentially into the burner. The most suitable and homogeneous fuel density is attained all over the cross section within a backflow zone 6, and ignition is performed at the tip end of the backflow zone 6 to form a stable flame front 7.
