To provide 17-esters of 9,21-dihalo-pregnane-11,17-diol-20-one.
An improved process for the preparation of 17-esters of 9,21-dihalo-pregnane-11,17-diol-20-one is provided. This new process is especially appropriate for the preparation of mometasone furoate shown in the figure.
