Abstract:

To provide processes for preparing 3-benzazepines and salts thereof [which can be useful as serotonin (5-HT) receptor agonists for the treatment of, for example, central nervous system disorders (such as obesity)], and to provide intermediates therefor.

Serotonin (5-HT) neurotransmission fulfills an important role in various physiological processes in the both of health disorders and mental disorders. For example, 5-HT relates to control of abstemious diet behavior. The 5-HT is supposed to act by inducing feeling of fullness, and thereby meal is stopped and calorie to be taken in decreases.
