PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing a high molecular weight allyl acetate polymer or allyl alcohol polymer in one stage reaction by radical-polymerizing allyl acetate or allyl alcohol.
SOLUTION: The process for preparing the allyl acetate polymer or allyl alcohol polymer comprises performing the radical polymerization of allyl acetate or allyl alcohol in the presence of a zinc salt or an inorganic acid with the use of a water soluble polymerization initiator.
